Our Mission
The Àyàn-Àgalú United (Àyàn-Àgalú Parapò) exists to preserve, promote, and celebrate the rich heritage of traditional Yorùbá drumming. We bring together professional talking drummers and percussionists — the Àyàn lineage — into one united family committed to unity, cultural preservation, excellence, and the advancement of indigenous drumming traditions.
Who We Are
Our members are professional African talking drummers and percussionists rooted in the Àyàn drumming lineage of Yorùbáland — from Oyo, Osun, and Kwara States in Nigeria — now carrying the tradition to communities across the global diaspora. Together we perform, teach, and mentor, keeping the dùndún, gángan, and other talking drums alive for a new generation.
Our Vision & Goal
The primary goal of The Àyàn-Àgalú United is to establish an Àyàn-Àgalú Museum and Cultural Hall in Nigeria — a permanent home for the preservation, promotion, and development of the rich heritage of the Àyàn (traditional drumming) culture and Yorùbá performing arts.
The Museum & Cultural Hall Will:
- Preserve the history, traditions, and legacy of the Àyàn people for future generations.
- Promote Yorùbá culture through exhibitions, performances, workshops, and educational programs.
- Provide a venue for cultural festivals, research, training, and community events.
- Support young artists and cultural practitioners by creating opportunities to learn and preserve traditional drumming and performing arts.
- Serve as a center for cultural tourism and international exchange, showcasing the beauty of Yorùbá heritage to the world.
